I’m entering my second terms as President and reflecting back on the last two years, I feel we’ve accomplished a great deal as an association. We continue to operate using a financially conservative and responsible approach to our finances. The communication among the association, with DYS, and numerous other agencies has improved tremendously over the past two years. The amount of support and willingness assisting each other with questions and situations is extremely valuable. We continue to provide informative conferences utilizing quality speakers and taking the information shared with us and implementing it at our facilities.
Newly elected Vice President Tony Miller has done an excellent job in organizing a training committee that will address training needs, assist in securing training sites among detention centers, conduct training committee meetings, and informing the association of training's throughout the state as he becomes aware of them. Tony’s commitment to enhancing training and educating others will benefit the association greatly.
Lance Ray continues to do an excellent job as the treasurer. There is a lot of work involved in being the treasurer and Lance always maintains up-to-date and organized records.
Congratulations to Tony Miller being elected as Vice President, Herb Henderson being re-elected to the executive board, and Ron Stollar accepting an appointment to the executive board. In my opinion, we have excellent officers and an outstanding executive board that holds the best interest of the association at heart and has the vision for the association to continue to grow and to continue assisting association members.
We are fortunate to have an association with members possessing a lot of expertise and the willingness to share their experience and expertise with one another. This will aid in our association continuing to grow and thrive. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Conference at Hueston Woods.
